Actually I do. Square didn't give Aerith a personality, she was hardly useful in battle, and even didn't get any development. She was a? living plot device and love interest for Cloud. Plus the entire scene wasn't handled well. Cloud was easily chewing the scenary. A well handled death scene, as well as a well developed, likable, and useful character was in Legend of Dragoon. I had real emotion for that death scene.

For me, it is not that I am proud... it is that this scene evokes such strong emotion when it is rare to evoke this reaction in *any* medium. And considering that in video games there is usually a lot of death, for one to be elevated...? says something. I kind of agree with @xPariah32 here. A remake done EXACTLY THE SAME would be amazing. If they kept everything as it was including the fact that there were no voices in the dialogue,square really would be on to something great. I know FFVII is such a great memory but it was for the PS1. None of the current generation? (unless they are shown by an older relation) will know the wonders of the game if it's not remade. I use to play a lot of comp games, I also subscribe to Maximum PC. A big issue now is money and time. Mostly money. My basement is a mess, so I don't game much. Working on that. If you lived in Portland, OR I could give better specifics, or even Seattle, WA. At worst case check the conventions. Stuff is everywhere. You can find info on ROMs online, plus emulators. There are alternatives. If you buy the games and a PC controler there are modern emulators. You can download the games, but it is best to buy the games/system. Strictly legal speaking. I'd check online. You can find new/rebuilt/used systems all over tue place. There are a lot? of people pike my friend Gus who have bought old systems and classic games. Sorry for being so verbose. None of this really answered your inital question, nor is exactly relavant. I wanted to go into game design, but felt uninspired due to the way the industry changed. I didn't see the possibility of creating a successful game with the market structure how it is. DA is Character Dependent Actions. So certain private actions or dialogs will occur with certain characters present. You cannot get everything the first runthrough. That's different than non-linear gameplay. Non-linear in tradition means total control of chracters and character action. Good RPGs are semi-non-linear. You cannot have a true non-linear game on a computer at this time. There? are no custom story generators or computer AIs to create new worlds and events on the fly.

...which explains my diagnosos of "MMORPG syndrom". You cannot hope to play both worlds. Some games like Chrono Trigger or Star Ocean make two or three games in one by looking at the universal stiry through the eyes of different characters or through a different series of events. For example, Chrono trigger has at least six ways to beat it. Star Ocean: the Second Story plays very differently in key areas depending on whether you pick Claude or Rena. Plus? all the private actions and character DA.

my ps2 broke years ago & since then i haven't been able to play much, i did play an online pc game called Age of Mythology, but since then i? haven't played much. I always wanted to play FF8, iv heard its good & if its anything like ff7 or ff9 it must be but unfortunately theres not many places with the game. Another problem is that if i buy a console, probably ps3; it wont take the old Cd's, unlike ps2 that took ps1 cd's without the need for 'remasters'. I hear ps4 will up the scale on bullshit!

I am surprised that more people haven't played VI. If you still have your PSX, log onto amazon and pick up FF Anthology, Chronicals, Origins and Tactics. I also suggest the Star Ocean series. There isn't any one best, it's personal preference. The games all have things? to love/hate. The biggest issue now is transitioning to classic graphics. My favorite might not be FF at all. It's hard to say. The mana series is great as is Chrono. :) FYI FFVI is darker. V is dual worlds, and IV is like VI. :)

Yes, up until I became unable to buy the new system. I haven't played every iteration. I've played them all pretty much till the end. So, I have a good indication of story/content/gamesplay. It depends on what you look? for. Music wise? Graphics wise? Etc.? The most emotional stories filled with classical tragedy are probably 1-9. I haven't played much of two, but from my experience Yoshitaka Amano, Nobuo Uematsu, Yoshinori Kitase, and related members made the best games. Pre-2001 are best.

You really played all the FF games? Did you beat them? all and if you did, which do you consider the best? I played FF7, FF9, FFX & FFX2 [though FF10 was the first Final Fantasy i played]. They were all great games though IMO; FFX2 was the worst of the 4 & i didn't think FF7 was anything special BUT i do recognize that FF7 is much younger then the aforementioned, thus at its time i can imagine it was a phenomena, obviously setting a standard for the games to come. Supposedly FF6 was awesome.

One this I do admire about the late 90's games is the emphasis on story. Even in side-quests, the designers introduced more indepth characterizations. I haven't noticed that in FFXII, although, I only ever finished Mystic Quest, even though I own/have played every? FF game. Perfectionism in gaming sucks. ;) Got't'a catch 'em all! ;) Overall, the newer games add more things to do, but those things lack importance on the whole story. MMORPG syndrome. Agreed. Whether this is? pure competition and like the ending of Bell Labs this is merely a summery result or not is probably outside our general ability to assess without a good deal of research. I suppose it would be interesting research to perform, but I question your or my willingness to commit the time. ;) Grandia 3 does span two disks, and I know some games are longer. I suspect it's a result of everyone wanting voiceovers and fmg. Text and minor animation is easy by comparison. :P

Some people ren't willing to pay that much for a new game especially if they dont know about it. The final fantasy after x-2 which was online [i forget the name] was priced at over $99, it was online, a new concept, expensive & i didnt have a computer for it thus i didnt buy it. Also, games have become? cheaper but it seems this is how the industry is going. They want to max out profits. Xbox 360 sold over 10 million copys of call of duty & almost 20 million of kinect adventures in 2010!

I agree that kefka was definitely the better villain. He had no motives, no reason in his past for what he did. He was... just plain Evil. Kefka was just downright cruel and? dark for no reason, which is why he was probably one of the greatest villains of all time! Not that there is anything wrong with FFVII, its a great game, just my opinion that FFVI was better is all.

I? don't know about you, but that was the saddest moment in all of video game history, to this day for me. i always cry when i see this :( Meh, the audio is bit out of sync. I was using ePSXe, a Playstation emulator so the performance was quite bad while capturing vid... gamecam tried to force fps to 30 and i had to tweak frame skipping and fps limit to make it stay almost in sync. the fps jumps between 30-58 so thats why it looks like it's dragging.
