I am not quite sure though I mostly sleep during mights. One thing is sure though, and that is that temperature sink during night if the weather is clear. The temperature rises quickly when the morning comes. And as I said before, bring an extra sweater. Or when you get there, buy one of those famous warm and cosy "Icelandsweaters". They will surely keep you warm. Even if you won´t need it when? you get back home again.

Well it certainly will not be 35 in summer, but around 15-20 at least. But bring an extra sweater just in case. The weather can change very quickly. But the icelanders are a very warm and friendly people, and almost all of them speak good english. It´s easy to get around by car. The traffic in not at all so hectic as in many? other european capitals.

Scandinavina has more in common. Nordic countries are basically just the countries that make up Northern-Europe. Scandinavia has more history together and more in common with each? other than the other countries that are in northern Europe. Maybe many Icelanders are of a Norwegian heritage (with a dash of English and Irish because the wikings raided their shores), some Finns of a Swedish heritage etc. but somebody somewhere down the line decided that's how it's going to be :)

As you're saying, understanding someone on a radio would be very hard, both because of the lack of subtitles and the fact that they would probably speak fairly fast.

I found Icelandics really easy to deal with and being of Nordic descent myself,? perhaps the climate just worked for me, the whole vibe. I saved for five years to visit there. For a second time or even to live and stay, I think I have some better idea about how to spend less. I made connections and met expats who had settled there. It takes 12 consecutive months to know if it is right for you but this is typical of pretty much everyplace. xo

Sadly, your note on glacial recession reminds me just how wasteful jet? flight is. But I take heart in knowing how to both sail, and ride a motorcycle. Sounds like more time, but far more enjoyable, and the costs are offset to the degree that you could afford more time. I've flown trans-atlantic via 747, I actually flew a lot in my teens back in the 80's. But now I'm more exited about travel even than before.
